Myrtle Moore

Born and raised in Prospertown until 1953 at which time she moved to Brick Township, Miss Moore was a teacher and began her career in a one room schoolhouse in the Archertown section of Plumsted Township until 1923. From 1923 to 1953, she taught grades 3rd, 4th and 8th in the New Egypt school system. From 1953 until her retirement in 1968, she was principal of the Herbertville School.

Miss Moore was a lifetime member of the New Egypt Historical Society and bequested to the society her many scrap books of local history and personalities. She also willed to the society a generous sum of money to be used towards the acquisition of a musuem. The society is grateful for her genorosity and foresight.

She was also a collaborator with Dorothy Mount in the publishing of "A Story of New Egypt and Plumsted Township".
