Dorothy S. Mount

Dorothy S. Mount, teacher, local historian and author of "A Story of New Egypt and Plumsted Township". Born Dorothy Gladys Stevens, in 1909 at the home of her parents Isabella and Ernest Stevens. The Victorian mansard roofed house, circa 1876, still stands at 7 Evergreen Road.

The New Egypt Historical Society is most appreciative to Mrs. Mount in that she has given all proceeds of her book, now in its 3rd reprint, to the society. Because of her local love of history and untiring research, we, the community, can keep alive our heritage, folklore and history through pictures and memorabilia. Many of the pictures throughout the museum are from the collection of Mrs. Mount. She now resides at Meadowlakes in Hightstown.
